Small changes can add up to big differences when it comes to protecting the earth. By switching from conventional products to new, environmentally friendly versions you can help create positive change. When the 3M Company sent me some of their new eco-friendly Scotch® Magic™ Greener Tape to review I was thrilled. Tape is a product that I use frequently and this is the first green version I've had the opportunity to use.
What Is Eco-Friendly Magic Tape?
New Scotch Eco-friendly Magic Tape includes a refillable dispenser and is made from over 75 percent renewable or recycled materials. The boxed refill roll is made from over 65 percent renewable or recycled materials. Even the adhesive is eco-friendly; it is made with plant based materials. This is important since plant based materials are renewable resources. The plants used in the tape are certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. This label is "a sign you are buying wood and paper products from a certified source, backed by a rigorous, third-party certification audit".
Other features include:
- The tape comes preloaded in a refillable dispenser. Refill rolls are designed so that they fit other, standard tape dispensers whether they are handheld or desktop styles.
- The dispenser and plastic roll inside the tape are both made from 100 percent recycled plastic
- The tape continues to be photo safe and you can write on it with a pencil, marker, or pen. It is available wherever other scotch tape products are sold.
Scotch Magic Greener Tape Review Results
The problem with some green products is that they just don't work as well as the conventional product. You may feel that you have to give up something that works well in favor of something that is gentle on the environment. Sometimes, this is a difficult choice to make.
I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the tape on a variety of materials. The tape is just as invisible on gift wrap as it is on the torn page of a book. Best of all, it holds securely just like the original Scotch Magic tape.
I was equally impressed with the quality of the tape and I plan on continuing to use it in my own home and office. It worked as well for securing envelopes as it did for my daughter's arts and crafts projects.
Protect the Environment without Loss of Effectiveness
I especially like that Scotch Magic Greener Tape allows me to protect the environment and indulge in my green lifestyle without sacrificing effectiveness and productivity. Unlike many eco-friendly products, the tape is priced competitively with other conventional types of tape. The suggested retail price is between $2 and $4 for a roll and between $5 and $7 for a two-pack refill.
